Below is a calendar events hosted by the School Counseling Department. Each event description notes a target grade level and audience. Locations and times will be posted and communicated closer to each event. After each event, we will post a recording or any relevant materials, if available.
Counselor Chat
Second Tuesday of every month (9/10, 10/8, 11/12, 12/10, 1/14, 2/11, 3/11, 4/8, 5/20) • Zoom
Join us at 8:45 a.m. the second Tuesday of every month September – April to stay informed of departmental happenings, updates, and hot topics from the counseling department. Our chats will be no more than 30 minutes and held via Zoom. We look forward to regular communication with our community.
Senior Application Night
September 5, 2024 at 6:30 PM – 8 PM, RHS Auditorium
All seniors and their parents are encouraged to attend this presentation outlining the nuts and bolts of the college application and submission process. Important information about completing applications, document submissions, and the various supports available to students throughout the fall will be discussed in detail.
High School 101 for Ninth Grade Parents
September 17, 2024 at 6:30 PM – 8 PM, RHS Auditorium
This program will provide information for current 9th grade parents and students as they begin their high school career. Topics will include the structure and services provided by the Counseling Office, as well as academic and mental health supports in the building.
Financial Aid Night
October 24, 2024 at 6:30 PM – 8 PM, Zoom
All parents are invited to learn more about the college financial aid process. We will be joined by representatives from Pennsylvania Higher Education Access Agency (PHEAA).

Navigating College Admissions Testing

Experts from the Compass Education Group will lead a thoughtful and pragmatic discussion of the future of college admission testing. Presentation topics for that evening included:
- The evolving role of test scores in specific contexts
- Making sense of the subtlety and variety of testing policies
- Fresh admissions data from test score submitters and non-submitters
- Making an informed choice between the ACT and SAT
- The specs and design of the digital, adaptive PSAT & SAT
- Optimal timing and smart approaches to test preparation and testing

College Admissions Panel

Juniors and their parents are invited to a discussion panel with representatives from a range of colleges and universities. The panel will touch on hot topics such as the current admissions landscapes, standardized testing, the college essay, application review and more. Students and families will be asked to submit relevant questions ahead of time.
Freshman Parent Transition Program
March 19, 2025 at 6:30 PM – 8 PM
This program will provide current ninth grade parents with an overview of the Counseling program available from 10th through 12th grades, including the supports provided by both the School Counselors and the College and Career Counselors.
