Counseling Department
Each incoming freshman class will have a dedicated counselor for the year. The Counselor will work directly with the class beginning in the spring of eighth grade and throughout their freshman year to ensure a smooth transition from the middle school and to help students build a strong foundation at RHS.
Beginning sophomore year, each student will be assigned a school counselor as well as a college and career counselor who will work with the student from the beginning of sophomore year through graduation. The school counselor will support student social-emotional well being and provide guidance and assistance for students' day-to-day needs.
The college and career counselors are specialists who will focus on furthering communication, planning, and support for students and families related to post-secondary college and career goals.

Prospective Student Open Houses
The School Counseling Department hosts monthly meetings for prospective students and parents who do not currently attend RTSD schools. They take place December through April, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Counseling Corner
Attention AP Testers: AP Exams are scheduled from May 4-15 (see full schedule here). Students should check their email for their testing locations as we get closer to the testing period. Students with morning exams should report to their testing location by 8 AM. Students with afternoon exams should report to their testing location by 11:45 AM. For students taking digital or hybrid AP exams: Students should open their College Board Bluebook App three to five days prior to each test to ensure that everything works properly. If there are any issues, the students should visit our tech office for help. For students with district-issued devices, any updates to the Bluebook app will be pushed out as needed. For students using their own devices, they are responsible for checking for Bluebook updates from the College Board website prior to each testing session. On test day, students should bring their fully-charged device, a charger, and their College Board log-in. We will have alternate devices available for any students who run into technical issues.
Lunch & Learn Spring Workshop Series: Students and parents/guardians are invited to join counselors and various experts in their field to learn more about special topics related to postsecondary planning. These sessions are held on Zoom during select Lunch & Learn 1 (11:24 AM- 11:54 AM).

Class of 2027 Junior Questionnaire & Parent Reflection: In preparation for writing counselor letters of recommendation for college applications, the College & Career Counselors ask for feedback and insight from eleventh grade students and their families. Students will complete the required Junior Questionnaire through Scoir. Parents should fill out this form to provide additional information about their child. Both the Junior Questionnaire and Parent Reflection are due by June 1.
Class of 2026 Collegebound Students and Families: A few reminders for next steps now that many of you are in the final stages of submitting applications: (1) Don’t forget to check emails and application portals for updates on your application status and outcomes. (2) Mid-year grade reports have been submitted to the colleges in your Scoir list. (3) Make sure you've completed and submitted any required financial aid documents. (4) Students- don’t forget to update your counselor and teachers about your outcomes and update your application outcomes in Scoir ( My Colleges-Applied-Outcome) . Read more.

Finding Your 'Dream School': A Conversation with Jeffrey Selingo: RHS Counseling welcomes Jeff Selingo, New York Times bestselling author and journalist, to Radnor High School on Thursday, May 21 at 6:30 p.m. Dr. Selingo will host a conversation about reframing the conversation on higher education as he guides families and educators on how they can widen the lens on the college search beyond top-ranked schools. Radnor Counselor Chat: May 12 at 8:45 a.m.
Parents/guardians are invited to join us on the second Tuesday of every month at 8:45 a.m. to stay informed of departmental happenings, updates, and hot topics from the counseling department. Our chats will be no more than 30 minutes and held via Zoom.
Class of 2027 Postsecondary Planning Meetings: College & Career Counselors are available for individual postsecondary planning meetings. These meetings must be scheduled during students’ free period or Lunch & Learn. Please allow 40 minutes to meet. We encourage ou to schedule your family meeting by April. To schedule, please contact us at RHScounseling@rtsd.org or (610) 293-0855, select option 4 (Main Offices), then option 2 (Counseling Office). Students are assigned to counselors by their last name. Naviance Class Action Clarification
Parents and guardians of Radnor Township School District (RTSD) students may have received an email from Kroll Settlement Administration LLC with the subject: Legal Notice of Class Action Settlement.
That email is a legitimate legal notice about a class action settlement involving PowerSchool and the Naviance platform. RTSD used Naviance with middle and high school students to help them plan their post-graduation pursuits until the 2024-2025 school year.
