SAFE Homes

Radnor High School and Radnor Township School District have partnered with Alliance for Safe Kids (ASK) to bring The Substance and Alcohol Free Environment Homes initiative to the Radnor community. The SAFE Homes program is sponsored by the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board's Bureau of Alcohol Education and encourages parents to sign a pledge prohibiting the use of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs by youth when on their property.

SAFE Homes allows parents to talk to each other and come together in a clear "No Use" message to children by maintaining that there will be "No Use" of alcohol, tobacco or other drugs in their homes. By working together around this simple principle, parents and school staff provide the consistency necessary to reduce pressures children feel to use illicit substances.

Safe Homes Pledge

All parents of Radnor High School students are encouraged to sign a pledge in which they agree to:

  • Actively supervise all gatherings or parties of youth in their home or on their property, or ask another responsible adult for help to do so
  • Not allow the possession or use of alcohol, tobacco or other drugs by youth in their home or on their property
  • Set expectations for their children by knowing where they are going, who they are with, what their plans are and when they are to return home
  • Provide a secure storage place for all forms of alcohol in their home
  • Talk with any parent of a child they personally observe using alcohol, tobacco or other drugs

Parents who sign the pledge help build a SAFE Homes network, sending a clear and uncompromising message to children and other adults that the use of alcohol or drugs is not okay on their watch.

While the SAFE Homes pledge is not a legally binding contract, it is an agreement between the network of parents and a confirmation that parents are partnering with RHS to protect kids from the dangers of alcohol and drugs.

Note: The SAFE HOMES pledge is not a legally binding contract but an agreement between the networks of parents.
