Eligible Residents: Take Advantage of Tax Rebate Matching Program!
Did you know you might be eligible for a tax rebate from RTSD for school property tax paid in the 2021 tax year?
Radnor residents who are ages 65 and up; widows/widowers ages 50 and up; and/or persons with disabilities ages 18 and up who meet specific income requirements (under $35,000 for homeowners or under $15,000 for renters) are able to receive a rebate from Radnor Township School District if they apply and receive a property tax or rent rebate from the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue under its existing rebate program.
The rebate from the district would typically match the rebate received from the state, however rebates will not exceed the total amount of taxes paid by the eligible resident.
To take advantage of the additional rebate from RTSD, eligible Radnor residents must:
- Prior to Dec. 31, 2022: Apply for the PA Department of Revenue rebate and meet all eligibility requirements
- Prior to June 30, 2023: Upon receipt pf PA Department of Revenue rebate, submit required documentation to RTSD
The rebate from RTSD will typically be mailed to eligible residents who complete the required steps within two weeks of the district's receipt/notification of the required documentation.
The RTSD School Board approved the district's new property tax/rent rebate matching program at its May 2022 Business meeting (read article in Main Line Media News). According to Main Line Media News, the amount of the state’s rebates depends on income level, with homeowners earning up to $8,000 able to qualify for a rebate of $650 and property owners earning up to $35,000 eligible for $250.
Data from May 2022 from the 2020 tax year indicates 150 Radnor residents applied for the state's rebate program, and thus would be eligible for a matching rebate from the district.
