Reminder: Gaiters Not Permitted Option with Masks Now Required

With face masks now required for all RTSD students, staff, and visitors when indoors, gaiter-style masks are again no longer permitted as an acceptable form of mask. This adheres to CDC guidance first announced in a message and followed by the district in February 2021. This message is reproduced below for your convenience. Thank you for your cooperation.

We continue to monitor guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for updates on Covid-19 mitigation strategies. Recently, the CDC updated their guidance on masking, specifying that masks should be two or more layers, be worn completely over the nose and mouth, and fit snugly against the sides of the face, without gaps or openings.

With this refined CDC guidance, beginning Monday, February 8, Radnor Township School District will no longer permit gaiter-style masks as acceptable face coverings for staff or students attending schools/district buildings in-person. According to the CDC, gaiter-style masks can only align with these recommendations by folding them, which would be logistically difficult to monitor and enforce.

Again, beginning Monday, February 8, gaiter-style masks will no longer be permitted in schools/district buildings for students and staff. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
