Radnor Ultimate Frisbee Shine at Regional Tournaments
The Radnor Ultimate Frisbee team recently wrapped up a very successful Fall season with two standout showings at top regional tournaments. The Boys placed 2nd at the Stockton Fall Brawl, defeating a tough line-up of DIII college teams.
Kicking off their run for Nationals, the undefeated Girls/NB team claimed championships at both the Kit Kat Tournament and The Coconut Classic, an elite regional tournament featuring high school teams across PA, NY, and NJ. The girls’ team was awarded the ‘Spirit Award’ at the Coconut Classic tournament.
Since Radnor Ultimate's founding in 2006, the team has had a history of strong tournament standings and 5 State Championships. RUF expects to continue its annual tradition of competing in the State Championship playoffs again this coming May. Athletes that join Radnor Ultimate can earn JV and Varsity letters each year while developing strong bonds among an inclusive and diverse group. Many did not play Ultimate ahead of high school but go on to excel in the sport and continue in college.
The world of Ultimate continues to grow every year. USA Ultimate now includes College Championships, Club Championships, and Team USA competing at the World Championships in Europe. There are also several Professional leagues in top cities across the country. Radnor alumni have been part of each of these great opportunities. Earlier in November, RUF Seniors Dustin Schrader, Sofia Dillon, Diana Huang, and Rona Liu-Zhong returned from tryouts in Georgia after being selected among only 100 Boys and 100 Girls nationwide to vie for a spot to represent Team USA at next year’s U20 World Junior Ultimate Championships.
