It's a Record!: 21 RHS Student-Musicians Make District Ensembles

Twenty-one talented Radnor High School student-musicians were recently selected by audition to the 2021 Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) District 12 Ensembles, the highest number of students ever selected from RHS in a single year according to RHS orchestra director Tatyana Oksyuk.

The student-musicians selected to the District 12 Ensembles are:

  • Band: Audrey Niedland (Flute), Hayoon Kim (Flute), Manato Matsuoka (Clarinet), Jason Tey (Clarinet), Mia Xie (Clarinet), James McGovern (Trumpet), Kwanjun Jung (Trumpet), Hannah Yao (Trumpet), David Marshall (Trombone), and Ian Sun (Percussion)
  • Orchestra: Elena Chang (Cello), Jason Oh (Cello), Deana Yuan (Cello), Eleanor Graves (Viola), Arav Menon (Viola), Leon Chen (Violin), Audrey Niedland (Flute), and Ian Sun (Percussion)
  • Chorus: Niva Menon, Bridget Walsh, Aidan Oliver, Theodore He, and Sam Roche.

Following their selection to the District ensembles, the selected students re-auditioned for a spot in the Region 6 ensembles via video submission. Of the RHS selected for Districts, eleven successfully auditioned for Regionals and are eligible to audition for the All-State event in April.

The student-musicians selected for the Region 6 ensembles are:

  • Orchestra: Elena Chang (Cello), Leon Chen (Violin), Eleanor Graves (Viola), Arav Menon (Viola), Audrey Niedland (Flute) and Jason Oh (Cello)
  • Band: Hayoon Kim (Flute), Manato Matsuoka (Clarinet), James McGovern (Trumpet), Audrey Niedland (Flute) and Ian Sun (Percussion)
  • Chorus: Aidan Oliver
