Message from Principal MacNamara: Welcome to the 2023-24 School Year

Dear Radnor High School Parents and Guardians,

Welcome back to another exciting academic year at Radnor High School! We hope this letter finds you relaxed after an enjoyable summer.

We begin the school year full of gratitude, and with anticipation for all the wonderful events that lie ahead. To start the year, we have a few important dates and events to note:

  • September 5: First day of school
    • Students in grades 9 and 10 will report to school from 8:30 am – 12:30 pm.
    • Students in grades 11 and 12 will report to school from 12:30 pm – 3:10 pm.
    • Transportation will be provided to and from school for both sessions.
  • September 5: Picture Day
  • September 6: Back-to-School Night will be 7:00 - 9:30 pm
    • 9th grade presentation will be in the RHS auditorium from 6:00 – 7:00 pm.
    • All parents will follow a Day 1 schedule.
    • To ensure all visitors have adequate parking, we will run a shuttle service from Radnor Elementary School throughout the evening beginning at 5:30 pm with the last shuttle leaving the high school at 9:30 pm.
  • September 7: Senior College Planning Night will start at 6:30 pm in the RHS auditorium

Our Home Access Center (HAC) opened on August 15 for all students to see their schedule. There will be no schedule changes between September 6 through September 19. Students may make an appointment with their school counselor to change a class from September 19, 2023 until the end of the first quarter (November 11, 2023). Schedule changes are permitted as long as the student adheres to the steps and rules outlined on page 7 in our Program of Studies.

As I shared in my email earlier this summer, it is my vision for the school that all students will have an inclusive, respectful, and nurturing educational environment that promotes rigorous learning through culturally responsive instruction. This allows us to embrace the district’s mission to inspire in all students the love of learning, creating, and to empower them to discover their individual passions with knowledge, confidence, and caring to shape the future.

Other news that we are excited to share includes that our ADA Accessibility and Wellness Project is near completionStudents and staff will be able to enjoy our new weight room, classrooms, and various other aspects of the Accessibility and Wellness Project when they return to school on September 5. With the help of PE teacher Mr. Tom Ryan, all students will have the opportunity to use the weight room Monday – Thursday from 3:10 – 4:00 p.m.

In addition to our new facilities and belonging initiatives, we are also thrilled about the restructuring of our school counseling office. The new structure includes a dedicated ninth grade counselor, three traditional school counselors, and three college and career counselors. Please see our school counseling webpage to learn more about the new structure and to find your child’s school and college and career counselors.

Throughout the year, you can expect to receive updates from me on important school events, academic progress, and opportunities for involvement. We encourage you to stay connected with us through our school website and the Radnor Reader.  Additionally, please don't hesitate to reach out to our administrative team if you have any questions, concerns, or ideas to share.

The start of a new school year brings with it a sense of renewal and the promise of growth. We are committed to providing an educational experience that not only conveys knowledge, but also a sense of belonging for all students. Our dedicated faculty and staff are excited to welcome our students to the 2023-2024 school year.

On behalf of the entire Radnor High School faculty, staff and administration, I wish you a wonderful end to your summer vacation and look forward to seeing the students on September 5!
