Free Breakfast for All Students Available Beginning Oct. 1
On September 9, Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf announced that the state would be funding free breakfasts for all Pennsylvania students beginning on October 1, 2022. RTSD will be participating in this program and encourages all students to start the school day off right by taking advantage of this complimentary meal.
According to Gov. Wolf's announcement, the Universal Free Breakfast Program will run through the end of the 2022-23 school year and be available to more than 1.7 million Pennsylvania children enrolled in public schools, intermediate units, charter schools, career and technology schools, and child care institutions that participate in the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs. The $21.5 million program is funded with prior year funding from the School Food Services General Fund appropriation.
Lunch will still be no-cost or reduced only for students who are eligible; non-eligible students will require payment.
