Former RMS Counselor and Teacher Lauren Raines Named New RHS AP

Lauren Raines was appointed the new Assistant Principal of Student Affairs at Radnor High School by the RTSD School Board at its August 24 business meeting. She will also serve as House Principal for grades 10 and 12. Her first day at RHS was August 23.

Raines joins the RHS administrative team from her previous positions at Radnor Middle School, where she has served as a school counselor and Science teacher since joining the district in 2006. During her time at RMS, she guided students through the course selection process and participated in the development of the RMS master schedule. She also served as a 504 coordinator and was a member of the RMS data team; Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) team; diversity, equity and inclusion team, and the Student Assistance Program (SAP).

Raines also developed and implemented the school-wide, middle-level portion of the district's 339 Plan for Career and Technical Readiness and spearheaded the implementation of the "Where Everybody Belongs" (WEB) program. She also served as a diversity, equity and inclusion teacher leader, Student Council advisor, Alliance for Safe Kids (ASK) committee member, Science Vertical Team member, and Gifted teacher leader.

"We are excited to welcome Lauren [to RHS]," said Superintendent Dr. Ken Batchelor at the meeting. "Lauren has had experience and has been working at our middle school both as a counselor and a Science teacher and we are thrilled to have her join the administrative team."

Raines holds a Bachelor of Science in Science Education from East Carolina University, Master's Degree in Secondary and Post-Secondary Counseling and Psychology from West Chester University and a Certification in Educational Leadership from Cabrini College. She joins principal PT Kevgas, assistant principals Ryan Buterbaugh and Dr. Joseph MacNamara. Raines replaces former Assistant Principal Keziah La Torre, who accepted a position with Wissahickon School District in August 2021.
