The RTSD Student Services Department will welcome Cara Miller as the new Interim Assistant Director of Student Services from her current position as Student Services Supervisor pending formal Board approval at the Feb. 22 Business Meeting. Miller will take over for George Reigle, who served as Assistant Director of Student Services since 2019 and has accepted a new position at the Chester County Intermediate Unit. Mr. Reigle’s work on behalf of RTSD students and families is greatly appreciated and the district wishes him well in his future endeavors.
Mrs. Miller was named Student Services Supervisor in 2021 and has more than 20 years of experience in Special Education, K-12. She began her career as a 7th-grade learning support teacher at Upper Darby School District and worked in Penn-Delco School District as an elementary learning support teacher and coordinator for Sun Valley High School's alternative program. She has been with RTSD for 10 years, serving in a variety of roles such as Special Education Coordinator, Emotional Support Teacher, and Individualized Education Program (IEP) Case Manager.
In another administrative appointment pending formal Board approval on Feb. 22, Mr. Joseph Daniele will become the district’s Director of Transportation from his current role as Acting Director of Transportation, which he assumed following the Fall 2021 retirement of the previous Director of Transportation John Hearn.
Mr. Daniele joined the district as a school bus driver in 2008 and served as Transportation Router for nine years. In this position, he performed school bus routing for public and non-public students, maintained the student database and district GPS program, ensured adherence and understanding of bus routes, assisted the Director of Transportation with student bus conduct reports, and transported students, when necessary.
